Srinagar, Jul 15 (KNO): The Kashmir-based opposition parties are likely to give a miss to Jantar Mantar protest being organised by the National Conference (NC) on July 20 over the demand for restoration of statehood.
Sources disclosed to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the PDP may decide against joining the protest programme organised by the NC. “There is every likelihood that the PDP will not participate in the protest programme ,” they said, adding that the NC’s invitation was discussed during the recent party meeting.
The party is yet to announce its decision on NC's invitation.
The Peoples Conference is also likely to turn down the NC’s invitation to join the protests, with sources revealing that the party leadership is averse to participation in the programme.
The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), led by MP, Er. Rashid, may also not participate in the protest programme. Talking to KNO, MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed said the decision has been left to Er. Rashid. “The final call will be taken by AIP supremo. We have conveyed our stance to him, and he will take the final decision,” he said.
Khursheed further recalled that the AIP had advised the NC at the time of government formation in October 2024 not to take oath until the restoration of statehood—(KNO)
